Care and Maintenance:

Our products require very little user maintenance. As with any protective device, we recommend regular inspection and testing. Following these basic tips will help extend the life of your Miller Edge products.

Sensing Edges:

  • Clean with a soft damp cloth. A solution of mild household detergent or dishwashing liquid may be used.

  • Do not paint
  • Inspect regularly for cuts, scrapes or punctures as these could lead to damage of internal switching mechanism.

If the Sensing Edge is damaged, call your local gate professional immediately for service.

Guardian Mats:

  • Common dirt or dust: Sweep clean with soft bristle broom.
  • Spots or Stains: Spot clean by wiping with a clean, damp (not wet) cloth. A non-abrasive, mild household detergent solution may be used if needed.
  • Oil, Grease Spills: Minimize exposure to oils. Cat litter has excellent absorbent properties and may be used to remove oil from the mat surface. Generously sprinkle litter over the oil, then sweep clean with a soft bristle broom.

  • Perform visual inspections for any cuts, scrapes or punctures that may damage the internal switching device
  • Inspect for any cut, frayed or damaged wires
  • Perform testing on a regular basis

Photo Optic Products:

Edge Transmitters:

  • Wipe with a clean lint free cloth or with soft bristle brush

  • Replace battery at least once per year. It’s a good reminder to schedule this at the same time you replace smoke detector batteries in your home or office.
  • We do not recommend replacing the battery yourself, but if you must, be aware that the lid gasket must be intact and in the proper position to maintain the watertight seal. Water damage caused by an incorrect
assembly is not covered by your warranty.
  • We recommend calling a professional door or gate company to replace the transmitter battery and perform an overall system safety check.
